The Art of Wine
This summer Pasqua Wines supports ‘Metamorphosis: Innovation in Eco-photography & Film’ at the Saatchi
16th July 2024

With support from Innovator of the Year Pasqua Wines, the Saatchi has opened its doors to four early-acclaimed emerging artists based in the UK. The exhibition highlights the artists personal approaches to the shared goal of developing more sustainable practices. It highlights how innovation, creativity and unconventional approaches can unlock sustainability and has given these artists a platform to showcase over 70 pieces of work, some of which will evolve during the exhibition.
Artists Almudena Romero, Edd Carr, Hannah Fletcher and Scott Hunter are Ground breaking in their practices of eco-conscious photography and film. The medium of photography has historically been unsustainable, due to the toxic chemicals used in the development process, silver particle waste, camera manufacturing and disposal, and the storage of digital photographs. These artists are leading the way in changing the possibilities of photography and its ability to become a more sustainable practice through new, innovative techniques.
Almudena Romero, a British-Spanish photographer uses naturally occurring photographic processes including photoperiodicity, photobleaching and photosynthesis. Her work showcases leaves with printed images layered on them. The leaves are encased in resin, creating fossil-like qualities meaning they can be handled and moved.
Edd Carr uses sustainable alternatives to the photographic process to create films that comment on the trauma we face as a species from ecological crisis.
Using organic matter such as soils, algae, mushrooms and roots as mediums and surfaces for her photography, Hannah Fletcher is the founder of Sustainable Darkroom - a worldwide artist-led movement, which develops low-toxicity photographic processes. Scott Hunter uses eco-processing as an alternative method to analogue photography. His work combines photography, sculpture and installation.
This exhibition highlights Pasqua’s most significant partnership with a major arts institution outside of its home, Italy. Since 2018, Pasqua has invested approximately €5.1m in artist collaborations, arts programming and patronage.
Pasqua has recently launched it’s 11 minutes Rosé. A blend of native Italian varietals Carmenère and Trebbiano grapes gives the wine elegance with fine fruit notes and hints of spice. The soft shade of pink is due to the exact timing, 11 minutes, that the grape skin is in
contact with the wine. Not only does the taste make this the perfect wine for summer, but the details of the bottle leave you wanting it to last.
The pretty floral and butterfly imagery on the label alongside the soft, elegant shape of the bottle make this the perfect wine for all your entertaining needs. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary wine making, Pasqua have been recognised as Wine Innovator of the Year 2024.
Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé 2023 is available at Majestic £11.99
