Narges Rashidi returns as Lale in Gangs of London Season 3, premiering March 20th, 2025. A fierce Kurdish freedom fighter, Lale controls heroin distribution to fund her cause while seeking revenge against Asif Afridi. Rashidi's powerful performance has made her a fan favourite, and her return promises more intense action in London's underworld.

In Season 2, Lale faced significant challenges and betrayals. How has her character evolved in Season 3, and what new facets of her personality can viewers expect to see?

Season 2 undoubtedly left its mark on Lale. The events she endured have changed her profoundly. In the first two seasons, we saw a Lale who was entirely focused on business—her people, her cause, her mission. But in Season 3, her journey takes a more personal turn. We’ll meet a different Lale, one even she is unfamiliar with.

Given the unexpected alliance between Lale and Asif Afridi at the end of Season 2, how does this relationship develop in the upcoming season? What complexities arise from this partnership?

That’s a great question—but one I can’t answer just yet! What I can say is that nothing is ever simple in this world, and that certainly applies to Lale and Asif. You’ll have to watch and see how things unfold.

With Elliot Carter ascending to a leadership role in London’s underworld, how does Lale navigate the shifting power dynamics? Does she view Elliot as an ally, adversary, or something in between?

Lale has never been in this business for power or luxury—she minds her own affairs unless someone stands in her way. So, she doesn’t harbor strong feelings about Elliot one way or the other. However, unlike in the past, their paths will cross in Season 3.

The spiked cocaine shipment in Season 3 leads to catastrophic events. How is Lale personally affected by this tragedy, and does it influence her motivations or actions?

Lale is deeply affected by the fallout of this event, and it forces her into situations she never anticipated. It adds another layer of complexity to her journey, impacting the way she navigates the season

You’ve previously performed intense fight scenes yourself. Are there any particularly challenging action sequences for Lale in Season 3, and how did you prepare for them?

Yes, there are plenty of action scenes in Season 3, and I had the opportunity to do all the fighting myself again. It was incredibly challenging but also deeply rewarding.

Since joining Gangs of London, I’ve made it a priority to stay as fit as possible year-round, knowing that my role is physically demanding. This continuous training makes it easier when it’s time to prepare for fight scenes. Once filming begins and I know exactly what the action sequences require, I train intensively with our stunt team, learning the choreography and adjusting my physicality to fit Lale’s situation at that moment.

I also prefer rehearsing in full costume—down to the shoes and accessories—so that everything feels natural when we’re on set. And just for fun, I even bought myself a pink fake gun to practice at home. It helps make all the gun work feel second nature!

Season 3 introduces actors like Andrew Koji and T’Nia Miller. Did Lale interact with any of these new characters, and how did their addition impact the storyline?

Unfortunately, Lale doesn’t interact directly with the new characters in Season 3. There was originally a scene between me and Andrew Koji, but they ended up choosing a different direction for our characters, so that scene no longer exists.

That said, working with Andrew was great fun—he brings an incredible energy to set. And while I didn’t share screen time with T’Nia, meeting her in between takes was a joy—she’s an absolute ray of sunshine.

Lale’s relationships have been central to her storyline. How do her connections with other key characters, such as Sean Wallace and the Dumani family, evolve in the new season?

After what I’d call one of the biggest betrayals in television history, Lale’s relationship with Sean is… complicated, to say the least. She is deeply scarred. I can’t say much more without giving things away, but let’s just say their dynamic has shifted dramatically.

Without giving away spoilers, where do you hope to see Lale’s journey go in potential future seasons? Are there aspects of her backstory or personality you’d like to explore further?

I’d love to see Lale in a private, everyday environment—outside of war, outside of strategy, just living a normal life. Can she even do that? How would she make herself a meal? How does she handle banality? The idea of Lale dealing with the mundane makes me grin—it might even be a completely different show! But it’s a side of her I’d be curious to explore.
