Mia Mia talks to us about her new re-release coming out this week, inspirations and so much more.
Hi Mia! For those who aren’t familiar with your music. How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as soulful pop with a modern day edge, powerful but fun.
Who would you say inspires you?
I have grown up around very strong women in my life, I am constantly inspired by them to work hard and push boundaries. Also a lot of women in the industry too who have overcome difficult circumstances and have come out the other side.
Have you got any new music coming out this year?
I have a new song that comes out on the 24th of May. It’s a reworked version of one of my favourite songs “How Will I Know” and you can be sure of more releases after too !
What would you say you prefer recording in a studio or performing live?
They are both a very different experience for me, when i’m in the studio I can be honest and vulnerable. I use it as an outlet to express what i’m going through at that time and i put it in my music hoping it can relate to others. When I'm performing live I can tell the stories through my performance and connect in real time to those who have been listening to my music so for me they both fuel me in equal ways.
You went to the Brit School where names such as Adele, Raye, Amy Winehouse and so much more went. How was your experience there? Seeing artists such as the ones I’ve mentioned did it make you want to work even harder.
My experience was a whirlwind i had never been in a place with such like minded hard working and talented individuals before. It was such a safe and creative space there truly is nothing like it and i will always be grateful for my time there. Seeing such influential alumni has definitely pushed me even harder it’s just so inspiring to think they walked the same halls as me!
Lastly, what would you ReVamp and why?
Right now I'm definitely ReVamping my sound I have been working on myself as an artist for 6 years and I have now definitely defined myself and my sound so I would say expect some R&B and Jazz tones in the future. I really can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on.
