From getting several million streams on her first song with Yellow Claw and not even releasing an album yet. Kelsey Gill is a singer who's about to shine!

Kelsey had a chat with us to discuss music, fashion inspirations and three songs that's kept her going through this crazy time we're in.

Hi Kelsey. Thanks for talking to ReVamp Magazine! What have you been doing for the past year?

It’s been a crazy 12 months, In February & March 2020 I was in Nashville just before lockdown. I was adding the finishing touches to my solo debut album. As soon as we got back to England, all plans changed, we had to divert the whole project and make some adjustments.
All my gigs were cancelled as there was no live music, the label meetings couldn’t happen & the release dates were put on hold. It was a great time to slow down & work on myself because the past two years prior had been hectic. I spent time writing in a chilled home environment doing zoom sessions & spending quailty time with my family & friends.

Now 18 months on I have more songs written & have had another feature release with Mike La Funk, (Back To You) a song I co - wrote & sang, which last week hit over 1 million streams on Spotify which feels amazing! I have also had a great photoshoot at View Studios and all my projects have started up again. I’ve just secured a major deal in America for my solo material, so I’m buzzing about that. Recently I’ve started working with my own band in preparation for all the up and coming gigs & festivals happening in the next few months, so I’m really excited!

Your song with 'I'll Be Fine' with Yellow Claw had several million streams on Spotify. How has the experience been for you?

It’s been amazing! That was my very first feature song release. We had to fly to Amsterdam for 24hrs of madness to record the song. It was such a huge opportunity to be on the same album as ASAP Ferg & DJ Snake. I was honoured they wanted me to be a part of it. It was a stepping stone that led to several more features & collaborations.

Your Instagram is very fashion crazy! Who inspires you?

I get inspiration from loads of different places. Hailey Bieber is one because I love her classic but sporty vintage retro vibes. I also love the likes of old school Madonna, Gwen Stefani & Blondie. I love to mix Hollywood glamour with casual sporty vibes & hints of rock n roll thrown in too and I get inspo from fashion magazines aswell. Shoes and trainers are my thing and I do tend to keep them for years as they never go out of fashion.

Which three songs have you been playing on repeat?

Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape
YUNGBLUD - Cotton Candy
H.E.R. - Hard Place

From your bio on Instagram you've mentioned you've got new music coming soon. Can you tell your readers any spoilers?

I’ve got another MRK feature coming out soon as our last one did so well. Then another feature, I can’t say who with, just yet. Then towards the end of summer some of my original stuff will be coming out both here & in the US which is really exciting! So keep your eyes peeled!

What's next for Kelsey Gill?

I am going to be releasing my original music through a major deal in the States which I’m really excited about & going on the road with my band for some festivals. So I’m going to be busy!
