Dover Street Market Paris

5th June 2024

The Hôtel de Coulanges, lived in by Madame de Sevigné, an icon of French 17th century literature has become home to the newest and eighth addition of Dover Street Market. Built Between 1627 and 1634, DSM will take over the ground and first floors. The space has potential and plans to hold exhibitions and artist takeovers, with the two basement floors and courtyard already providing a space for art, literary, music and community events.

Designed by Rei Kawakubo with a ‘voyage of discovery’ in mind. The aim is for the customer to have to work to find what they desire, resulting in a greater sense of satisfaction through having no dedicated brand or concession spaces and no clothing visible from outside the building. The store will also hold space for down time and creative catch ups with the café Rose Bakery.

For the opening, there was an installation and an exhibition entitled “Comme des Garcons for and by Paolo Roversi” as well as an installation created by Matty Bovan.
