Dionne Bromfield has returned with her brand new single ‘Silly Love’ - a track featuring the 25-year-old’s smooth vocals paired with an addictive soulful beat. ‘Silly Love’ accompanies the release of Dionne’s acclaimed docuseries with MTV - ‘AMY WINEHOUSE & ME: DIONNE’S STORY’, a series focusing on the impacts of loss and grief.
We chat with Dionne about her new single, the upcoming docuseries and she tells a sneak peek about her new EP!
Hey Dionne. Thanks for having an interview with ReVamp Magazine. How has 2021 treated you so far?
Like everyone it’s been different! But I feel quite blessed as it has given me the opportunity to take a step back and reevaluate everything. I feel like despite the start this year is going to be a good one! Like myself, I feel like lots of people have learned a lot about themselves this year.
Congratulations on your new single 'Silly Love' where did the inspiration come from with writing this track?
This song was written about a relationship - I think everyone has been in a situation when they are with someone who they know deep down isn’t good for them but can’t seem to let it go. I went through so this is what this track is about and I’m sure lots of people will be able to relate. But we grow through what we go through and it will all make perfect sense one day.
What was the reaction like from the general public with the new single?
It’s been great! I haven’t released anything for a while, and alongside my MTV doc, I am completely blown away by the comments and support I have received. It feels good to be back!
Who inspires you?
My family and friends.
You have long awaited EP coming up which is very exciting! Can you tell us anything about the style of it? Will we be getting songs like 'Silly Love' ?
It is very exciting - the style I would say its got soulful influences with a touch of RnB. There are other songs like 'Silly Love' written about personal experiences… but you’ll have to wait and see!
You have an upcoming Docuseries with MTV called ‘Amy Winehouse & Me: Dionne’s Story’ coming out soon. What can we expect from the show?
The most important thing I wanted to do was show Amy as the person I knew and loved. First and foremost I hope people see her for more than what was portrayed in the media and recognised that she was so much more than that. I also hope people learn that it is good to talk.
What’s the future looking like for Dionne Bromfield?
Definitely more music, hopefully, more documentaries, and who knows what else but I am open to new opportunities and I'm very excited about this next chapter.
