You know her as the loveable character Tracy Beaker from 'The Story of Tracy Beaker', 'Tracy Beaker Returns' and recently 'My Mum Tracy Beaker'. Since 'My Mum Tracy Beaker' premiered in February it reached 2.1 million streams on BBC iPlayer during the first three days of being made available. ReVamp got to have a chat with Dani Harmer about the show, the loveable Tracy and tells us some behind the scenes gossip.

What made you want to get into acting?
I’ve always wanted to be an actor from a very young age! I used to watch musical films like Annie and Oliver and just knew that’s what I wanted to do as a career!
What made you want to get involved in a new Tracy Beaker series and why now?
I was like everyone else where I just wanted to know what Tracy was up to and where her journey was going to take her! Jacqueline Wilson had written the book a few years ago and I knew straight away that it would make a great series! And the timing was perfect! A bit of lockdown nostalgia is what we all needed!
How do you think Tracy Beaker has changed since her younger days now she has a child of her own?
Yes she’s definitely changed! She’s certainly calmer and less selfish! But she still hasn’t lost that feisty spark which is why we all love her!

What was it like filming ‘My Mum Tracy Beaker' ?
It was certainly different as we were filming in the middle of a pandemic! But we made the most of it and it was still super fun! And Emma who played my daughter was so wonderful to work with! She has a very bright future ahead of her!
What’s the secret of the success of 'My Mum Tracy Beaker’ ?
I wish I could tell you haha! I think everyone has just taken Tracy into their hearts for the last 20 years and we all just wanted to see how she was in this new stage in her life!

Any funny stories you can tell us from behind the scenes?
Every single scene that was filmed outside was filmed in the rain! Manchester weather was not very kind to us while we were shooting! Especially when we were in the pink Cadillac with the roof down!
Having such an amazing response to the first series, will there be a second series of ‘My Mum Tracy Beaker’?
Well there is a sequel to the book so I’m keeping everything crossed that we get to carry on the story in the future!
