The rising actress stars in "The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder," an all-new original Paramount+ series based on Nickelodeon’s nostalgic Emmy Award-winning animated show, "The Fairly OddParents." The 13-episode season combines live-action and animation, picking up years after the original series ended.
The SAG Award nominee is best known to television audiences as the younger version of Kaley Cuoco's character Cassie, in the critically acclaimed series, "The Flight Attendant." Its sophomore season brings powerhouse actors to the all-star cast, including Sharon Stone as Cassie's mother. Season 2 premieres this May on Sky and NOW.
Marshall had a successful awards season, consistently making Best Dressed Lists in support of the dark comedy's Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and SAG Award nominations.
What made you get into the acting world?
I loved the show "Liv and Maddie" when I was a kid, and I thought it was really cool that Dove Cameron was playing dual roles as the titular twins. It made me think about the actual craft of acting and I told my parents I wanted to do it and with their support they helped make it happen. It’s been a dream come true.
You have been in the popular series ‘The Flight Attendant’, which season 2 lands on April 21st. How did you find the role of Young Cassie, and what made you want to audition for that type of role?
I received the audition from my agency, but a couple weeks before my family and I had taken a road trip and my mom listened to the audiobook in the car, so I was familiar with the material and very excited about auditioning for the project.
I had just come off of a very dark feature film called Small Time, so I was in the right mind set to audition for Young Cassie and it all came together the way it was meant to. I tend to love the darker, more serious roles.
You star in the all-new original spin-off ‘The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder’, how did you get into this role?
I was sent the audition from my agent and I was very excited. I grew up watching the original series with my older siblings and I knew right away I wanted the part of Vivian Turner. I had never done a kids show before but I could tell this was special. The entire audition process lasted about 2 months and I wasn’t sure how it was going to end. When I finally got the call I had booked the lead role in "The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder" it was truly a dream come true.
Is there anything about the show you can tell us about?
It’s hilarious and really fun to watch. It’s something the whole family can enjoy. The original actors who play Wanda and Cosmo have reprised their roles and Dimmsdale is still just as wacky as ever! You can stream now on Paramount+. You’ll love it! I promise!
What makes this role so different from other roles you have played?
Before "The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder" I had mainly done dark and gritty TV and film roles. Vivian was challenging because this was the first time doing comedy let alone a kids show. But the role required Viv to be very grounded and thankfully that’s natural for me. It was such a delightful change. I’ve loved every part of it.
If someone wanted to start in the acting industry, what would be your top advice?
I think it’s really important to understand it doesn’t happen overnight. I’m only 13 years old but I’ve been acting for over half my life. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time to really grow your resume. But if you’re doing it for the love of the art, then it’s worth it! Just stick with it!!
