Nick Wilson is a self produced singer/songwriter from South East of England. From someone who has organically grown and independently all together he has over 100 million career streams. 

Nick has began to launch his new album releasing a new single ‘Lead Me to the Water’ and ‘Say Something'. He has also recently soundtracked a single ‘Enough to Know You’ on popular E4 channel, ‘Made in Chelsea’. 

When talking about his new single ‘Say Something’ he goes onto say “‘Say Something’ is about the frustration of not knowing what the other person is thinking or feeling in a relationship,” says Nick. “It’s so easy to make a situation worse just by not talking about it, and in a relationship this feels like even more of a punch to the face. It’s about those moments when you know something is wrong, but you can’t understand it because you don’t know what that something is.”

Hi Nick, Thanks for talking to ReVamp, how did lockdown help but also didn’t help in terms of your music? 

Hi! Thanks for having me! I think weirdly it helped me figure out what I wanted to do with the songs I was sat on. I don’t think I would have made the album I have if it wasn’t for lockdown. It just made me realise how quickly things can change, and so I let go of the fears I had about making a debut record.

Who were your inspirations whilst growing up and have they changed? 

I had a whole bunch - The Fray, Gavin DeGraw, Jeff Buckley, John Mayer. They’ve kind of stayed the same haha I’m always inspired by those beautiful male falsetto voices so that was my main inspiration I think.

Your new album ‘Now I’m Falling’, is set for release on the 6th August, how are you preparing for the launch and how did you decide what songs to feature on this album?

The songs really fell into place super easily. They are a collection of songs I’ve written over the past few years, and so there was never really a point that I was struggling to find songs for the album. It was more a case of deciding from a whole load of songs which ones fit together and tell a story well.

You released ‘Lead Me to the Water’ as the first single from your album, what made you choose that song from the album to release first? 

I think I always knew that would be the first single. It just introduces the world of the album perfectly I think. The strings and cinematic soundscape and the vocals, I really wanted the first single to be an insight into what the album would sound like and this song is that for me. It’s opening the door musically for people to see what’s inside.

How long did it take you to record and write the album, what is your favourite song on the album and why? 

The album was written over a few years, but it only took a couple months to record and finish the album. My favourite song is always changing but at the moment it’s a song called black and blue, it has possibly my favourite strings on it.

You are now sharing the single ‘Say Something’, from your up and coming album, where did the inspiration come from ‘Say Something’?

Say Something is about that frustration that comes from not knowing what your partner is feeling. Those times during an argument when you’re not being fully honest with eachother. 

Where did you record this single and what was the process like from start to finish of this single?

I recorded the single and whole album with my friends Martin Luke Brown and Mark Elliott. We basically spent a couple months in Martin’s studio messing around and creating these tracks, and it was so much fun. It was actually a really easy process, but I think that is a result of knowing those two super well. It was always just a laugh first and work second haha.

I think we’ve all experienced this feeling at some point. Yeah I’ve definitely experienced it. I think it’s human nature though, we have to communicate to understand eachother and there will always be a point where that communication isn’t fully realised.

Your music has been on the reality show ‘Made in Chelsea’, how did that make you feel knowing thousands of people were tuning in and could hear your song? 

Crazy haha. It never gets old, the fact that even one person is listening blows my mind.

You have a tour coming up in 2022, what are you most looking forward to touring, and what city are you most looking forward to performing in?

I’m just super excited to be playing shows again. It will have been a year and a half since my last show, so I really cannot wait to be back on a stage playing for people. It’s weird not having been able to do that.

Lastly, what is next for you?

I’m not sure! Definitely a headline show, definitely more music. For now I’m focusing on the album haha.
