Boy in Space

19th May 2021

Words: Pankhuri Bhutani

Emerging as a forefront of a resurgence of talent, Boy In Space’s distinctive murmurous voice emanates a quality like no other. Honing his musical creativity absolutely perfectly, his music compels one to dissociate from the harsh realities of the world and simply just immerse themselves in the music.

Robin Lundbäck who professionally goes by the name Boy In Space has without a doubt initiated a fire within the music industry and his career is certainly one to watch. His emotionally raw song-writing style and immense potential has led him to amass over 15 Million streams on his YouTube platform and garner around 2 Million active monthly Spotify listeners. Boy In Space’s latest project FRONTYARD highlights his colossal talent as a vocalist as well as a songwriter.

Robin recently sat down with ReVamp to share some significant insights into his music journey.

Hi there Robin! Thank you for joining us on ReVamp. Lovely to have you. How are you doing amidst everything going on currently?

I'm really happy with where I'm at atm. Of course  it would be great to play live shows but I'm thankful for the listeners I have online and the great support I keep getting from my fans.

You recently released your EP- FRONTYARD. Huge congratulations on that! How has the response been so far and what was the creative process like with the EP? Any challenges you faced?

The response has been overwhelming. It's a great feeling when people love what you've been working on for so long. The process has been quite natural and a lot of fun. From making the artwork to writing the songs.

Where do you garner your major music influences from? Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?

I would say the pop world but I do tend to dip my toes in other fun creative pools from time too time. There's a lot of really talented people that I would love to work with but if I had to chose one it would have to be Jon Bellion because he's such a talented songwriter.

You have such a unique and an extraordinary voice. If you could describe your music in your own words, how would you define it?

Emotional melodic pop.

Most of Boy In Space tracks resonates with a really bright, emotional and adventurous theme. How would you describe the theme of this EP? Is there any particular genre or theme of music you would like to explore in the upcoming years?

I feel like FRONTYARD is something you would expect from me. But I probably sprinkled a lot of my childhood influences in there then people realised. The cool thing about music and creating your own music is that there's no frame that I have to move within. Boy In Space will never stand still creatively. There's always new music to discover and new sides of yourself you never knew existed.

As you may have heard it by now, lots of your fans have been anticipating a collaboration between you and the talented Alec Benjamin. (I for one, would love to see a collaboration between you and The Kid LAROI). I know you and Alec toured together a while ago, but can you see any possibility of you two working together on a track in the near future?

I'm a fern believer in not forcing things so if it's suppose to happen it will. He's a really talented dude.

What’s one thing that your fans should know about you personally which they might not get to know listening to your music?

Probably that I can cook. I probably look like the guy that has never touched a kitchen knife.

Lastly, have you set yourself any goals for 2021? Is there anything on your bucket list that you really want to achieve by the end of this year?

I want to keep making music and content for the peeps that enjoy it. I'm down for where ever that takes me.
