Dai Time

20th February 2025

Interview & Digital Editor: Pankhuri Bhutani

Dai Time has transformed into one of the most prolific and celebrated young voices in the current digital space.

You might know her as a massively successful podcaster/host from her weekly Gen Z and Pop Culture centric talk show in affiliation with Snapchat called, "It's Dai Time", but she is so much more!

Often referred to as the "Voice of Gen Z", Dai Time has been witnessed juggling a plethora of creative endeavours- from being a teen entrepreneur, singer, celebrity correspondent, host, producer, best-selling author, and a Digital Media Creator with over 1.5 million followers across platforms, Dai has got it all covered.

Being such a celebrated diverse creative, her work was recently even recognized by former American President Joe Biden, when he personally invited her to attend the 'Black Excellence Brunch' at the White House.

Dai Time recently joined ReVamp for our latest Exclusive Feature to talk about her sensational professional journey, and how she manages her professional career alongside being a college student.

Hi there Dai. So lovely to have you here at ReVamp again! How are you doing and how has the start of 2025 been for you?

Hii!! I’m doing well and super excited to be back with ReVamp again. 2025 has been an interesting year and a year that I’m ready to continue to push through. I’ve just finished my winter term for college, and curated a new posting schedule for my socials… So 2025 will be such a great year and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

I mean let's obviously begin by asking about your love for entertainment. What was it initially that made you pursue this field and transform it into a professional career?

Funny enough, I’ve always shared a love for entertainment. Growing up, I was obsessed with Justin Bieber and I remember I was always watching “Shake It Up” on Disney. Music was actually my introduction to the entertainment industry and while it didn’t suffice, I am happy that I dabbled in being an artist first because it allowed for me to find my true passion of hosting and social media.

Your widely loved Snapchat Series 'It's Dai Time' has successfully accumulated such a massive amount of audience from around the world but besides being a content creator, you're also a successful author, producer, college student, and a phenomenal host!

So, I'm very curious to know as a young creator, what does it feel like establishing an engaging platform and trying out these diverse creative outlets while also actively balancing out your personal life? Does it ever get overwhelming?

Honestly, it’s such a blessing to have such a powerful platform and see all of my years of hard work pay off in the form of the community I’ve built online. Sometimes it’s not always a walk in the park, as I am juggling so many different things on my plate, between school, my dogs and my social life in addition to work. I find that I work the best and feel my best when I am taking time to myself in between. Sometimes that means, taking the day off to get a facial or play my favorite video game so I’m back in action the next day and ready to knock out all my tasks.

Your work was also recently recognised by Former American President Joe Biden, as he personally invited you to attend the 'Black Excellence Brunch' at the White House. What a massive feat!

What was your initial reaction to hearing the news about this one-of-a-kind invitation and knowing that your work was being acknowledged by such iconic figures?

In ALL honesty, I thought it was a scam email LOL. Those scammers get so creative with their emails, I’m like there’s no way THE WHITE HOUSE sent me an email… After further review with my management team, we did confirm it was indeed real, and after that I had my bags packed almost instantaneously!! I did actually miss one day of school to attend, but I told my professors this was a one time opportunity and I even was able to get some extra credit by talking about my experience completely in French for one class, and doing an entire speech about being an influencer in another class.

As a fellow journalist who has studied media myself, I'm very excited to see about your current enrollment as a media student. Huge congratulations!

Do you think you have learnt something novel in terms of journalism from your sophomore year so far as compared to when you were working as a host and content creator prior to your Bachelors?

So academically, I’m finishing up my associates degree in English as I prepare for my transfer into Journalism. So unfortunately I haven’t learned much about Journalism in specific YET… However, I did take an English magazine course recently which was super fun and I ended up joining my school’s student-run literary magazine as managing editor. I can’t wait to get more involved in student-run projects like this evolving around media and journalism when I transfer too!!

Being one of the most celebrated diverse voices on the internet currently, what are your thoughts on diversity and the significance it holds in terms of showcasing distinct stories, especially within the landscape of Hollywood?

I think diversity is so important, especially for my generation. We need to see people who look like us doing great things because it’s inspiring, and it opens a new perspective for us dreamers and lets us know that our dreams are not too far in reach. This is a key reason I use my platform to show other members of my generation that they can become thriving creatives too as long as they put the work in, no matter how old and where they’re from.

You also recently visited the set of "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place"!

I would love to know what your experience was going on the set of this iconic show and getting to meet the lovely new cast affiliated with the project.

This was such a thrilling experience overall, and really gave childhood me a fun surprise as I definitely watched Wizards of Waverly Place growing up. The set tour was just iconic, and especially spending the day with David Henrie was pure fun. I loved seeing how the show came together and even the tributes to the first series.

Is there any advice that you'd like to bestow upon the young and aspiring content creators out there who look up to you as a big source of inspiration?

Just go for it !! I understand wanting to do all the planning and thinking… but sometimes you just need to go for the prize. As someone who is an overthinker I know how easy it is to get caught up in all the stats, and logistics but sometimes your dream is more than that. Don’t hold yourself back trying to make everything perfect, believe in yourself and reach for the stars.

What's next for you, Dai? Is there anything currently on your bucket list that you really wish to achieve by the end of 2025?

There’s not a specific goal I’d like to reach per say, however this year I really wish to work on bettering myself and my brand, with the addition of continuing to connect with my peers via social media. I hope I can inspire my peers to go out and be the change they want to see, thriving and pushing the narrative for Generation Z.
