Jack James Ryan is making a name for himself in the entertainment industry from starring in VERA on ITV and Peter Cattenos's Military Wives.

Ryan is here to talk about his next big project with ITV 'Passenger' where he plays the troubled boyfriend John.

Thank you for chatting with us today, Jack! Congratulations on your new ITV show ‘Passenger’. What can you tell us about your role in the show?

Thank you very much! It’s really exciting. What I can say about the role is my character is John Trowbridge he is the boyfriend of Katie Wells. The Wells family is the main family that we focus on throughout the drama, the six episodes. We get to follow John and Katie’s relationship and how that kind of develops and grows in the journey over the six episodes. When we meet John he feels like the stereotypical troubled boyfriend, so throughout the piece, we see that journey and there is a sort of nice growth, ark, and development throughout that, so it was nice to explore that!

What made you want to audition for it?

You get these briefs through from your agent and this one is that the delusion sets in very early on and I knew this was my role. I hadn’t even auditioned for it and I knew this was it and I got it what I mean is I read the brief and I felt immediately connected to the character, I knew who this character was and I knew this world and I felt like I could bring real authenticity to that. Sister produced the show and I was such a huge fan of their work their work speaks for themselves. So, before I even read the script and saw Sister’s name was there, I knew this was going to be good! 

What would you say is the greatest challenge of this role?

John lives in emotional extremes and why I say that I mean if he’s sad, he is distraught or if he is angry, he will wreck the joint. So, I do feel like when you live in those emotional extremes of the character I feel like the technical aspect is trying to achieve that in every single take was very challenging and also trying to achieve authentically which is not too much or not enough. It was challenging but the challenging you want in all the best ways as an actor. By the end of the day, I was knackered.

How is this role different from other previous roles you’ve played?

This might sound strange but I was able to swear. A lot of the shows I’ve done previously have been pre-watershed and some kinds of watersheds can sometimes be disabling of the character or the situation. But this time there were no rules we can tell the story on how we want to tell it and not have to worry confide the words of anything. 

Is there a dream role that you would like to play?

So many! How long have you got? [laughs]. I’ve always been a fan of the James Bond franchise, I don’t have the six-pack for Bond but I would love to play the villain. 

Suppose you had to ReVamp anything in the world. What would it be and why?

I would love to ReVamp our view on Ferrero Rocher's like why is it a Christmas chocolate? Like I know I can get a Ferrero Rocher's but having it in the summer feels so wrong. And it shouldn’t feel wrong! In our society, it’s an elite chocolate and we should do it all year round and it should be a lot cheaper.
