NYFW AW24
ReVamps Top 5 Trends

20th February 2024

Words: Charlotte Harney

New York fashion week did not disappoint. One of the most major cities on the fashion month schedule, the much anticipated week followed the freshness of Copenhagen in a sleek and bold way. This season we saw Tommy Hilfiger bring things back to his hometown, showcasing the latest collection in Grand Central Station, Ludovic de Saint Sernin made his New York debut, Collina Strada brought the gym to the catwalk and we saw none other than Beyonce sitting front row at Luar. We’ve pulled the week together and rounded up our top 5 trends from this season at NYFW.

Red Hot

Eckhaus Latta

Laquan Smith

Retrofete

Tory Burch

Go bold or go home, right? Red has made a comeback. We’ve seen a soft colour palette for a while now, with cottage core trending and ‘girl’ themes backing a comeback but it seems like its a turn for the primary colours again. Go all out with bright red dress or keep it pulled back with a deeper burgundy jumper.

Check Mate

Anna Sui

Helmut Lang

Gabriela Hearst

Michael Kors

The pattern of the season has to be check. It was spotted all over the catwalk, with some brands like Helmut Lang and Tommy Hilfiger giving the pattern it’s full look moment, and others bringing a more subtle approach like Naeem Khan’s checkerboard gradient dress or Tibi’s cotton shirts. There’s an option for everyone with this print.

Long lengths

Carolina Herrera

Jason Wu

Gabriela Hearst

Michael Kors

While I can’t see the Y2K mini skirt trend disappearing anytime soon, it’s clear from the NYFW runway it’s got a competitor. Long lengths were seen all over the catwalk, in skin tight maxi dresses, flowing tailored coats and floor sweeping puffer jackets; the longer the better. Maybe an ankle grazing coat over a barely there mini skirt is the way forward.

Christian Siriano

Prabal Gurung

Batsheva

Pamela Roland

A variation of capes were seen in scarf like structures draped over shoulders to built in pieces over mini dresses this season. Whether it’s an extension built into a blazer or an alternative to a coat, capes can be very versatile and bring the drama to any outfit.

Shimmer

Altuzarra

Lapointe

Private Policy

Ulla Johnson

Glitter, sparkles, shimmer, sheen - we saw it all over this NY AW24 season. Full gowns covered in sequins for a real princess moment, metallic sheen mini dresses giving uber cool girl aesthetic, or small glitzy details in tops pulled away from being too glam with a pair of jeans, a bit of sparkle really did make it to nearly every show.
