Vain

Reworked white shirts, laptop cases embedded into tops and stomping welly boots embody the brand's inspiration of work - life balance (Helsinki style). Vain’s depiction of ‘a love story between life and work’ is evident throughout the collection. Tailoring embedded between open back, silk dresses, graphic tee’s with exaggerated baggy jeans and classic white shirts revealing ribbed vests underneath embody the influence of the ‘busy Tokyo based business man’ and Helsinki’s ‘unique nightlife’. The collection is made up of a predominantly monotone colour palette, hinting to the repetitiveness of everyday work life but touched by personal elements and nightlife, particularly contemporary trap music, through pops of yellow, red and metallics. The show also featured ‘items from the upcoming “VAIN Upcycled” product line and incorporates a wide range of deadstock materials.’

Baserange

Upon walking into the Baserange presentation you are transported to what feels like an uber-cool, laid back art studio. Artisan food is laid out on a long table and self service coffee is at your disposal. A soft buzz of chatter among fashion and art people, babies in tow, fills the room and gives a unique start to what will be a unique fashion presentation. A mixture of the arts; fashion, sculpture and music showcases the Baserange collection. Muted tones, texture and layering mirrors the soft sounds of female singers and the flute. It’s no surprise from this performance that the collection’s inspiration and theme was ‘finding your voice’. The collection focused on concepts of sound waves, the act of listening, and embracing silence. Adjustability was noticeable on all pieces, allowing the wearer to keep the clothing as loose or as fitted as desired. The colour palette drew inspiration from the human body; bones, digestion, bloodstream, highlighting the bodies’ interconnectedness’.

KSENIASCHNAIDER

Titled ‘Nature Always Wins’, this collection featured upcycled pieces and natural fabrics, proving sustainable fashion can be colourful and unique. Soft denim in varying hues of blue, bright and bold pops of orange and yellow and varying degrees of structure is seen throughout the collection. Kseniaschnaider has created the character of an undeniably, effortlessly, cool girl, evident through low rise, baggy jeans, bikini tops, oversized shirts and sheer materials. This collection was bound together with the ‘harmonious relationship of haute couture and the raw beauty of the natural world’.

AERON

To mark its third runway collection in the fashion capital of Copenhagen, AERON showcased its AW24 collection in the historical area of Frederiksgade 1 ,next door to the Marble Church. The collection was set in a gallery style, surrounded by textile artwork and delicate sounds. Bold silhouettes highlighting the shoulders through oversized coats or soft layered jumpers, scooping necklines and a buttery warm colour palette with pops of hot pink and black weaved through this collection. The brand collaborated with Hungarian artist Sári Ember for this collection and were inspired by the ‘intersection of common thoughts, the passing of time, and the beauty of alteration and cyclicity over a lifetime’. Ember’s artistic touch can be seen through the colours and textures that flow through the collection, highlighting the things that inspire her practice; aging and maturing, while keeping AERON’s classic sharp lines and definitive shapes.
