RuPaul's Drag Race won't be anywhere without their stunning Pit Crew Boys but as the UK like to call them Brit Crew Boys. We chat to the lovely Adam Matthew Smart who stars in the latest season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK as one of RuPaul's boys.

Smart talks to us about getting the role, walking in to the work room for the first time and he tells us some funny behind the scenes gossip.

Hello Adam! Thanks for chatting to us today. How has this year been for you?

That’s a big question! This year has been a lot of fun and a lot of challenges but I think those challenging moments that I had, along the way this year, have made me appreciate the fun. 

You’re on the latest season of Drag Race UK as one of RuPaul’s Brit Crew members. How was it to be on such a huge TV show?

It was amazing! It was magical. I wanted to do TV since I was a kid and this was my first time having this opportunity. By coincidence, it was my favorite TV show. It was a dream come true and I loved every second I was there.

What was the audition process like?

It was so long ago, so it’s hard to remember but I remember saying to myself before I went in, just to be myself and relax, have as much fun as possible, and make them laugh and I think I did that. I acted like a total clown, which seemed to go down really well!

Do you have a favorite RuPaul song?

Yes! I would say Kitty Girl because it’s super poppy and uplifting. I love Ru’s part in it but also love the All Stars versus as well.

What was going through your head when you walked into the Work Room and had to stand by RuPaul?

To stand in that pink workroom was a pinch-me moment, I felt like I was dreaming. I would say I was an equal part of nervous and excited. Nervous because it was my first time on camera and I didn’t want to look like a deer in headlights but as soon as I walked in and was surrounded by all this color, the beautiful drag queens, and RuPaul it made me feel very relaxed and I just knew I was there to have a good time.

Have you got any funny behind-the-scenes gossip?

I remember one of the camera crew coming up to me in between a take, and said, "That's great Adam. What you're doing is really funny." I said to them, "I was trying to be serious!" I was obviously goofing around without realising.

We were so well looked after by the crew, the catering was incredible and I remember on my last day filling my rucksack up with an immense amount of apple pie. 

Other than being a Brit Crew member. What don’t we know about you? 

First and foremost I’m an actor! In the future, I hope you see me do more TV stuff as that’s what I like to do. In between auditions, I pay the bills working as a special needs teacher!
