A big thanks to Callum Crigton for being a fabulous assistant!

Lockdown was a pretty tough time for us all…at times the only things that kept us going were memes and funny videos that people created. Bailey J Mills was one of those people who made the nation laugh with their hilarious videos all over social media by creating these extravagant characters and also characters we know from our childhood such as Velma from Scooby-Doo! If you haven’t seen any of Bailey’s videos you must have been sleeping under a rock because Bailey became so viral all over the internet.

A few weeks ago Bailey released to the public that they would be doing a headline show at The Clapham Grand at the end of the year. The tickets sold out in 24 hours! Bailey had to add an extra date due to popular demand! Well done Bailey!

We chat to Bailey about their drag, creating characters, and what you can expect from the upcoming show.

Bailey! Welcome to ReVamp and thank you for being our cover star! What did you want to be growing up?

I wanted to be a hairdresser and then I felt like when I did hairdressing it wasn’t really for me. I always had beauty and hair and everything and I think that’s what lent me to drag. Growing up I also wanted to be a singer and be on the X Factor and I’m glad that I can do that now through Cabaret.

For people who don’t know your drag. What three words would you describe it?

Crunchy, Rough, and Sissy!

Your videos are the best thing on social media. You make everyone laugh with your sense of humor! How do you come up with all these amazing stories?

I think it’s very British culture seeing people day to day, people grow up with during school; you can be in Aldi and a lot is going on and you see all these types of people which makes it relatable for the viewers and I think that is why they find it funny because it’s relatable and we all know these people if that makes sense.

Also, because I’m autistic it’s like a release for me to be these characters because I can be very anxious out of drag, so it’s really fun to bring that other side of me where I can just have fun and be silly.

Is there a character you haven’t put on social media that you want people to see?

Always! I always have something planned, so I always have characters lined up. I have a few new characters at my show that I’m doing at the end of the year that I’m not showing till the show. I’m always working on new characters and bringing one of the characters to life and creating little scenarios as well.

So you have announced that you are headlining The Clapham Grand at the end of the year. What can we get from this show?

You’re gonna see what you’ve seen online but more of a Sitcom. You’re going to see stand-up comedy and you’re gonna see me bring these characters to life and also there’s going to be a lot of audience constipation. So it’s basically that you’re going to be in my world in that moment and in my head! My colourful pretty world!

Lastly, have you got any messages that you want to say to your ReVamp readers?

Make sure you please come and support me in my show, it would mean so much to me. I do feel the love! Thank you all for supporting me on my journey, I’m not a Ru Girl and I haven’t been on TV yet but I feel like I’m still on my journey and constantly trying to make it and big myself up and if it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t be here because you are all sharing my stuff, telling your friends and turning up to these shows. If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t be here - so thank you so much for supporting me!
