Tell Me Everything introduces us to 16-year-old Jonny Murphy (played by Eden H, Davies), who is trying his best to navigate through this world. Growing up hasn’t been easy, and although loved by his friends and family, Jonny suffers from undiagnosed depression and anxiety which he does his best to hide. So when he is faced with the most gut-wrenching tragedy, Jonny has to decide – is he going to let events overtake him or is he going to learn how to live?

We got to chat to Davies about his role as Jonny, how important mental health is and things to look forward to with the ITVX show.

Thanks for talking to ReVamp, what or who inspired you to get into acting?

It must have been all the stories my Dad told me about being a non-speaking raindrop in his school play that inspired me to follow in his footsteps! Truthfully, I enjoyed the feeling of being able to affect someone I’d never met before with a story they’d never heard before. That is what I kept chasing. 

You are starring in the new ITV show, ‘Tell Me Everything', so tell me everything about this show? *laughs*

Well, Tell Me Everything is a drama about growing up in smalltown Britain in the 2020s. It’s about that weird window when you’re not an ‘adult’ yet, but you’re definitely not a kid anymore. You don’t really know who or what you are, and are desperately trying to figure it out. I think my character Jonny struggles more than most, and a tragedy he experiences only piles onto it. What follows next is him absolutely bottoming out.

Do you think it is important to talk about mental health?

Absolutely, I think there’s such a problem with communication around depression, especially in young men and opening a dialogue is so important. It’s very easy to be open in today’s society, but it’s extremely difficult to be vulnerable; to be truly vulnerable. It takes a lot of bravery and trust.

What made you want to get involved in this show, and what are you most looking forward to when it airs? 

The script is beautifully observed and messy in the best way. It was a real challenge to try and capture that and one I was very grateful to take on. I’m looking forward to people hopefully seeing themselves in Tell Me Everything. I think there’s something for everyone.

What does your day-to-day look like when you are preparing for filming?

Every day is so vastly different, and I never really experience the same thing twice, so I make sure I know the character and situation like the back of my hand before I’m ever called to filming. That way I can just enjoy the ride and immerse myself in it.

What can we expect from you next? 

I honestly don’t know! I think that’s exciting though, I don’t ever want people to be able to guess what’s next for me. I want to be able to create new characters through a medium I’m proud of and be excited about everything I’m doing.
