Interview: Joe Coburn

Fresh-faced social media sensation, Thomas Day, is an emerging artist, ready to make his mark on the ever-changing Pop scene and touch the hearts of his fans with his latest single ‘Wildflower’. Day has accumulated a loyal fan base with over seven million followers across social media platforms and has reached an impressive twenty-five million digital streams. He sits down with us today to talk about fame, and how his career had blossomed from one life-changing decision.

Thank you so much for talking with ReVamp magazine, we love your new single ‘Wildflower’ because it’s a proverbial beacon of light and positivity, what has the reception been like amongst the fans?

Thank you so much for having me here and showing love on my new song. So far it’s been an amazing response. It seems that people are thrilled about it and are connecting with it.

What has been your favorite moment so far ever since committing to music full time and signing with your record label?

My favorite moment is when a song starts to hit, and people start to hear it and connect to it, and I get to notice it all happening. It’s crazy to think that my music, which often stems from the pain I have experienced, is helping people around the world.

Thinking back to your past, when was the moment that you decided to pursue the music industry, was there ever a time that your life could have played out differently?

I knew ever since I was a little kid that I had wanted to do music my entire life. It was something that made me really happy and I knew I had to chase that feeling. But I also grew up playing sports as well and while I had the choice to play college football at a D1 school, I knew deep down that music was what I NEEDED to do.

How has your life changed since you've gained popularity in your career?

It’s changed in a lot of ways. I have noticed myself being more in check with my mental health also growing as an individual. I have also been getting more emotional when I encounter love, haha.

Your lyrics are what many can relate to; where, who, or what do you draw your inspiration from when it comes to songwriting?

I went through a lot of things growing up and I’m still working through things in my life. I’m an emotional person who has been through a lot. As we all have. I hate to dig into my past trauma but that’s something I HAVE to do because I know it’s what is going to make my music as authentic as possible.

And finally, what do you hope to accomplish now that your current single is released, and what dreams do you have for the future?

Here’s how I see it: I released this song, one that is very dear to me. With everything I am doing I’m always looking forward to what’s next and always enjoying the present moment at the same time. So I’m going to keep writing and keep trying to heal myself and others through music as much as I possibly can. I love you guys and thank you again for having me.
