Tyrin

7th September 2022

Interview: Amy Bell

Recently releasing his latest single 'It's All Alright'. We got to chat to Tyrin about who inspired him to write music and creating his music video.

Thanks so much for talking to ReVamp, growing up, who inspired you to create music?

Mac Miller. At points in his life he was truly struggling but he was never afraid to venture out and experiment artistically. I truly admire that.

How do you think your music has changed since starting out in the industry?

Pop-Punk drew me into music in the first place. But once I started actually making music as a black artist in the 2010's, I felt obliged to fit in and become a rapper. Since I've matured as an artist, I question "why not?" I started working and performing with a band. And through that my influences came full circle.

You have a new music video for ‘It's All Alright, what inspired this music video?

It was an ode to a past version of myself that I knew was fleeting. I had just gone through one of the roughest parts of my life that I wasn’t handling particularly well. When I was writing this song it provided a healthy outlet. This is for that version of Tyrin so he will make it out the other side.

When you are planning for a music video, how do the plans get put into action and how long did it take you to shoot it?

I have a great creative team behind me. Not just the band, but the creatives at Oddsense who are curating my work. They’re there every step of the way.

How did you want the music video to be perceived and do you think you have achieved that?

I wanted to celebrate everyone who’s with me right now. We definitely achieved that.

What was the recording process like and behind the scenes?

It was a very long day, but everybody had a lot fun. We were just doing what we loved in a very free space.
