Tipped as One to Watch in 2022 by BBC Introducing Northampton, singer/songwriter Maddox Jones acclimates as a solo artist. Not a long until his debut album release 'Believe It,' out on April 8th, and Jones will solidify his place in the music scene. 

Before his soaring solo career, Maddox Jones had four tracks in Top 40 hits with The Departure, supported The Killers and Placebo, and played at Reading and Leeds Festival and Glastonbury. 

As a teaser of this full-length project, Maddox Jones reveals the new single 'Ready To Be Better' that is guaranteed to be stuck in your head. As upbeat as the track is, Jones carries heavy emotion, documenting a moment of awakening and celebrating a human psyche's continual evolution. 

Hello Maddox! Thanks for talking to us at ReVamp Magazine. You have your debut album 'Believe It' coming out on 8th April. How have you prepared yourself for this release?

Well, I've been pretty busy, creating a visualiser for one of singles, Magic, creating content in general and also playing live shows. Im excited to release a full length album! 

What do you want your listeners to take away when they listen to your album?

I want people who listen to my album to feel uplifted, understood and hopeful for the future. We all need hope and we all need music to get us through tough times, music can be very healing. I hope people can relate to the songs on the album. 

You've released your new single 'Ready To Be Better'. What was the inspiration behind the single?

I remember picking up my guitar New Years eve 2020 and I was in a place where I was pretty much sick of my own s**t. I decided to write a song of exactly where I was at at that time. I looked at the time on my phone took a deep breath and let the words pour out of me.  "It's a quarter past 3 on New Year's Eve but it could be any day from the past few years I'm skating on ice, fighting my vices yeah." I was partying too much and felt like I'd been been pretty selfish in a lot of ways.  It's basically like an extrapolated version of waking up with a hangover saying "I'm never drinking again". I felt like I'd let people down and I wanted to say sorry. I've been sitting on this song for a minute, but 2 years deep into Covid it feels relevant in a whole new way, I think we're all ready to be better.

Do you remember the first album you ever bought?

Have you got anything exciting coming up this Spring/Summer that we can look out for ?

Yes I'm playing lots of shows and will be releasing an exciting collab with a dance producer.
