TikTok and Instagram inspiration, Lex Gibbon, is a 17 year old singer songwriter from Hertfordshire U.K. Having been badly bullied from a young age, Lex understands how this can impact mental health and the devastating effect it can have on all aspects of life. Through her music she wants to help and inspire others to believe they can achieve anything.

Recently releasing her brand new single “All I Do (Is Cry)”- a track emerging out of immense personal heartache, Gibbon shared some insights with ReVamp Magazine about her professional journey.

Hi there Lex. Thank you for joining us on ReVamp! How has the beginning of 2022 been for you so far?

Thank you so much for having me on ReVamp I really appreciate it. 2022 has been incredible so far, very productive and I’m really excited to see where things go this year.

Before delving into your phenomenal music journey, I’d like to ask you what it was initially that brought you closer to the field of music? Did the passion come in early or did it develop at a later stage in your life?

I’ve always had a real passion for music, I had my first singing lesson when I was five. Music really has been my only outlet throughout the whole of my life and I’m so glad I’m Able to do it as more than just a hobby now.

You recently released your brand new single- ‘All I Do (Is Cry)’. Huge congratulations on that! What was the initial inspiration behind it and how did the general creative process go about with this project?

I wrote ‘All I Do (Is Cry)’ back in November of last year. The inspiration from this song came from the heartache I’d felt after I found out a guy I’ve been with for nearly 9 months had a girlfriend the whole time and I had no idea. I guess it’s me second-guessing my judgement and comparing myself to her.

The writing process was amazing, I wrote this song with Elyar A really Talented writer and producer Who I feel so lucky to have been able to work with. We wrote the together the first time we ever met so I can’t wait to get into the studio again and write some more music with him.

The track has garnered such a tremendous response so far! How does it feel to know that this project in itself has gained such an influence?

It feels incredible to know that people love this song, it’s really close to my heart and really means a lot to me so I’m really grateful that people are enjoying it.

Since this track showcases a bit more vulnerable aspect of your artistry, were there any moments where you considered holding back on this project?

‘All I Do (Is Cry)’ is a really personal song to me and I really opened up and was vulnerable with my emotions in this song, I debated for a really long time whether I should release it because of these reasons but ultimately I love this song too much to not share it with everybody else.

Where do you garner your major music influences from? If given an opportunity, is there anyone on your radar who you would absolutely love to collaborate with in the future?

My main influences in the music industry are Anne-Marie (I was lucky enough to work on the promo for her book ‘ you deserve better’ which I’m so grateful for) and Ella Henderson I think they both have amazing voices and are each so talented, it really would be a dream to work with them.

What sort of advice would you wish to give to individuals facing a similar heartbreak and experience like yours?

For anybody who is experiencing heartache my advice to you is to stay true to yourself, never change who you are as a person because of actions another person has chosen to make.

What’s next for you, Lex? What can your fans expect from your upcoming projects/collaborations?

There is so much coming up for me in the next year, lots of live events and new music will be coming out every 6 to 8 weeks this year so keep an eye on my socials to keep up to date with me.

Lastly, is there any message you’d like to give to your fans reading this interview?

My message to everybody reading this interview is to learn to love yourself, you’re the most important person in your life is learning to love you is also so important.
