Irish pop singer, NADIA is making a name for herself with her electro-pop music and is now on tour opening up for singer, LYRA. NADIA is our latest cover star where she talks about her new single 'Catch Me If You Can', the process of making the single, and what she has coming up next.

Hi Nadia, thanks for talking to ReVamp, for people who don't know you describe your sound in three words.

Soulful electro pop

What made you want to go into the music industry, and who inspired you to do so?

Music is in my blood! My mum and dad were singers and musicians and they always helped in any way they could with my career. I was always in auditions as a child, performing in musical theatre and I recorded my first song when I was 9 or 10 years old. I’ve been writing songs since as young as I can remember too, so I always knew it was something I would do and I’m very grateful for it!

Congratulations on the release of your new single, ‘Catch Me If You Can’. Can you talk us through the creative process?

Thank you! I love the process of taking a rough idea and being able to develop it into a finished song. Every song is generally the same for me; I start with some basic chords and a rough vocal. Then my producer and I work towards the finished song over a few weeks. For ‘Catch me if you can’, we took inspiration from 70’s disco and infused it with modern electro pop.

What inspired the infusion of soulful disco vibes into 'Catch Me If You Can', and how did you integrate these fresh sonic elements to redefine your electro-pop style?

I listen to a lot of modern artists but I definitely like to look for inspiration from other decades, and in this case, it was the 70’s. I don’t want my songs to all end up sounding the same so I like to switch things up and keep it fresh with each new track.

Did ‘Catch Me If You Can’ come from personal experiences, and what inspired you to create this single?

I definitely think all my writing comes from personal experiences. ‘Catch me if you can’ was written about being so infatuated with someone you feel like your head is spinning.

Your previous releases, such as 'Buzz' and 'Love Victim,' have showcased your versatility and ability to explore different emotions within your music. How does 'Catch Me If You Can' fit into the narrative of your discography?

I think my music explores a wide array of emotions such as loneliness, heartbreak and love. For ‘Catch me if you can’ I really wanted it to capture that infatuation you have with someone when you’re falling for them. I love making music that’s fun and upbeat and will get people dancing too!

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome since becoming an artist?

A large part of being an artist today is creating content alongside your music. I absolutely love making content for my TikTok and Instagram, showing the behind the scenes of projects and connecting with the audience on a deeper level. A challenge I find though is sometimes I can be so engrossed in a project that in the moment I forget to pick up my phone to record. That’s something I’m definitely trying to get better at!

You also performed in London for the first time at Paper Dress Vintage. What was that like?

It was amazing! I had the best time and I’m so grateful to D3lta and his team for having me support. The audience were so fun and I loved the venue! It was a great experience!

What is next for you Nadia?

I’m very excited and grateful to be supporting the amazing Irish artist LYRA on her UK tour at the start of May! We’ll be in Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and London and tickets are on sale now!
